In a significant boost to Bihar’s road infrastructure, ten road projects across eight districts have been approved under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF). Road Construction Minister Mr. Nitin Naveen announced on Saturday that Rs 675 crore will be spent on these projects, aimed at strengthening connectivity and ensuring safer travel.
He noted that these projects were recommended by the state government to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The approval reflects the joint efforts of the Central and State Governments to modernize Bihar’s infrastructure.
Districts and key projects approved
The road projects cover Buxar, Saran, Nawada, Madhubani, Bhagalpur, Araria, Purnia and East Champaran. These include road widening, strengthening and the construction of a high-level bridge. The major projects include:
- Construction of a 30 km road from Jaynagar in Araria district to the India-Nepal border at Ghurna, costing Rs 135 crore.
- Widening and strengthening of the Chausa-Gola-Kochas section of SH-17 in Buxar, including a bridge, at a cost of Rs 117.49 crore.
- Strengthening of a 12 km stretch under Taraiya Assembly constituency in Saran, costing Rs 48.68 crore.
- Development of 11.6 km road from Nawada Station Road to Supaul via several villages, at Rs 45 crore.
- Strengthening of 12.5 km Ramnagar-Motipur Khaira road in Madhubani, costing Rs 72 crore.
- Widening of 17.14 km Bhagalpur-Kotwali road via Gora Dih, costing Rs 80 crore.
- Connection of Bhagalpur-Hansdiha main road (SH-19) to NH-80 for 4.5 km, costing Rs 56.70 crore.
- Widening of 11 km Dhaka-Laukhan road in East Champaran, costing Rs 42.50 crore.
- Strengthening of 15.55 km Narigir-Champapur-Adapur road in Motihari, costing Rs 47.42 crore.
- Strengthening of 11.2 km Ghamdaha-Kuari road in Purnia, costing Rs 29.48 crore.
Transforming road connectivity in Bihar
According to Mr. Naveen, these projects will not only improve road quality but also provide better trade and travel opportunities for the people. Improved connectivity with neighboring states and Nepal through border routes like Araria will further strengthen Bihar’s economic prospects.
The state government emphasized that the upcoming works will help reduce travel time, enhance rural-urban linkage, and support local development. The joint push of central and state governments under CRIF is expected to accelerate Bihar’s journey towards modern infrastructure.
