Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami has granted financial approval of Rs. 986 crore for a wide range of development projects spanning across urban infrastructure, rural upliftment, transport, flood protection, and heritage restoration. The strategic funding, allocated through various state and centrally sponsored schemes, is aimed at reinforcing the state’s development trajectory and boosting local governance capabilities.
Strengthening Administrative Infrastructure in Key Districts
Among the major infrastructure initiatives, funds have been approved for:
- Construction of a non-residential building in Barakot tehsil, Champawat
- New residential housing in Officers’ Colony, Haridwar
- A meeting hall at the tehsil office, Pauri Garhwal
- Construction of office building, workshop, and storeroom at Lohaghat Bus Station in Champawat
These investments aim to improve public service delivery, ease administrative workload, and modernize district-level governance infrastructure.
Empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions
On the recommendations of the Fifth State Finance Commission, Mr. Dhami approved substantial fund releases to local bodies:
- Rs. 83.25 crore to District Panchayats (3rd installment, FY 2025–26)
- Rs. 78 crore to Area Panchayats (2nd half-yearly installment)
- Rs. 200 crore to Gram Panchayats (2nd half-yearly installment)
- Rs. 333 crore to Urban Local Bodies (3rd quarterly installment, FY 2025–26)
- Rs. 3 crore to three non-elected bodies
This funding ensures the financial autonomy of Panchayati Raj institutions, enabling local governments to execute grassroots development effectively.
Urban and Rural Connectivity Projects Move Forward
The Chief Minister sanctioned:
- Rs. 3.19 crore for road construction after encroachment removal on the Anarwala-Malsi motor road in Mussoorie (Dehradun district)
- Renovation of the 113-year-old suspension footbridge on the Saryu River in Bageshwar under the Missing Link Project
- Road strengthening from Jaynagar Road to Monibaba’s Mazar, Sitarganj (Udham Singh Nagar)
These road and bridge upgrades aim to improve transport accessibility, safety, and regional connectivity, especially in high-tourism and remote zones.
Urban Infrastructure and Utility Upgrades
Additional approvals include:
- External electricity and drinking water line installations for a low-income group housing society in Kath Bangla, Dehradun
- Flood protection works along the Khoh River in Kotdwar, Pauri Garhwal
- Motor road construction from Nawabgarh bridge to Khadar in Vikasnagar
- Upgradation of the Soban Singh Jeena University campus in Champawat with a central library, mini stadium, and boundary wall
Strengthening Core Utilities and Cultural Assets
Mr. Dhami also approved projects under:
- Irrigation Department schemes
- Uttarakhand Transmission Strengthening and Distribution Improvement Programme
- ADB-supported infrastructure schemes
- Development of the Angeli Babu temple site in Kapkot, Bageshwar
