1983 batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre, Mr. Amarjit Sinha who was posted as an adviser in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office has resigned from his post just seven months prior to the end of his service. He has not given any reason for his decision.
Mr. Sinha had retired on 16th March 2021 and was since working as Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development. He was appointed as an advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office in February 2020 for a period of two years.
Sinha is the fourth senior official to leave the Prime Minister’s Office in the last two and a half years. As soon as Prime Minister Modi’s second term began, his Principal Secretary Nripendra Mishra left the post. Last year, former cabinet secretary PK Sinha also resigned as the principal advisor to the PMO. He was a 1977 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. In January this year, the 1988 batch AK Sharma, a Gujarat cadre IAS officer, resigned from the post two years before his retirement and became a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council and vice-president of the Uttar Pradesh BJP. He worked with Modi for 20 years – first in his chief minister’s office and then in the prime minister’s office as joint secretary who was later promoted to the additional secretary.
