Ahmedabad: Marking a significant milestone in Gujarat’s cooperative banking sector, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the fourth branch of The Kukarwada Nagarik Sahakari Bank in the Sola area of Ahmedabad on Sunday.
The event witnessed the presence of several prominent figures including Minister of State for Cooperation Jagdish Vishwakarma, Mayor of Ahmedabad Pratibha Jain, MLAs, and key leaders from the cooperative sector, underscoring the importance of the cooperative movement in the state’s financial ecosystem.
Strengthening Cooperative Banking for Economic Growth
After the inauguration, the Chief Minister visited the bank’s newly established facilities and service counters, engaging with staff and gaining insights into its operations and public service delivery.
CM Patel took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his thoughts, stating:

“Under the leadership of Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi and Honourable Union Home-Cooperation Minister Amit Bhai Shah, the cooperative sector is witnessing unprecedented development in Gujarat as well as across the country.”
He added that cooperative banks are contributing to the national economy with renewed energy, and expressed his wishes for Kukarwada Bank’s continued success, praising its financial management and spirit of public welfare.

Celebrating Spiritual and Cultural Heritage
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister also participated in Adhyatmik Varshayog 2025, a spiritual gathering held at Gujarat University in Ahmedabad. During the event, he honored Acharya Sunil Sagar, a respected scholar of the Prakrit language, by bestowing upon him the title of ‘Prakrit Prabhakar’.
As part of the ceremony, CM Patel also released a Prakrit scripture, reinforcing the state’s dedication to preserving spiritual and linguistic heritage.

The inauguration of the new bank branch aligns with Gujarat’s broader vision of expanding financial inclusion and supporting community-based banking models. Under the leadership of CM Bhupendra Patel, the cooperative sector is being recognized as a critical pillar in rural empowerment, self-reliance, and grassroots economic development.
