The government of Haryana has constituted a committee comprising two IAS officers to take stock of a controversial order of Ambala divisional commissioner Renu Phulia (2003) in September 2023, when she allowed the purchase of 14 acres of land at Beed Firozadi village in Panchkula by her family (her husband and son) disregarding a stay order on the execution of sale deeds.
The order dated September 13th, 2023, passed by Ms. Phulia under section 24 of the Punjab Security of Land Tenures Act, 1953, had enabled her family to purchase the land. However, the Financial Commissioner of Revenue (FCR) put a hold on the registration of the sale deed. The concerned officer then instructed all the registering officers in Panchkula from registering any transfer deeds forthwith to avoid litigation.
The two IAS officers to hold the fact-finding inquiry are Ms. Amneet P Kumar, the incumbent commissioner and secretary in the Department of Women and Child Development, and Mr. TL Satyaprakash, posted as commissioner and secretary in the Department of Mines and Geology. The officers shall inquire into the sanction of mutation thereof and matters related thereto, including acts of omission and commission by officials concerning revenue and other necessary records. They shall submit a report to the Haryana government for necessary action.
