New Delhi: In a fresh round of administrative reshuffling, the Directorate General Defence Estates (DGDE) has transferred five officers of the Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES) to new postings across India. These strategic transfers are aimed at strengthening governance in the management of defence land and cantonments.
As per the new orders, Kapil Goyal has been posted to the DGDE Headquarters as Deputy Director General (DDG), marking a key move at the central level. D. Madhukar Naik will also serve at the HQ in the capacity of Deputy Director General.
New CEOs Appointed in Key Cantonments
Significant changes have been made at the leadership level of various Cantonment Boards, with three new Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) being appointed –
- Robin Baleja has been transferred as CEO, Delhi Cantonment Board, one of the most critical and high-profile military administrative zones in the country.
- Arvind Kumar Dwivedi will assume charge as CEO, Secunderabad Cantonment Board, one of the largest cantonments in India.
- Deepak Mohan has been posted as CEO, Agra Cantonment Board, further strengthening the leadership structure in the Northern Command region.
About DGDE: Managing 18 Lakh Acres of Strategic Defence Land
The Directorate General Defence Estates (DGDE) serves as the central agency overseeing the Indian Defence Estates Service and plays a vital advisory role to the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces on all matters related to defence land and cantonments.
With a portfolio of approximately 18 lakh acres of defence land, the DGDE is responsible for –
- Acquisition and resettlement of land for defence purposes
- Managing land records and compliance under the Cantonments Act
- Advising on policy and legal matters related to cantonments
- Ensuring proper land utilization, environmental compliance, and dispute resolution
Strategic Significance of the Transfers
The latest reshuffle comes at a time when the Ministry of Defence is focusing on digitizing land records, improving transparency in cantonment governance, and enhancing infrastructure development in defence zones.
By placing experienced IDES officers in key posts, the DGDE aims to strengthen operational efficiency, administrative transparency, and better coordination with local military authorities and civil administration.
