Jammu/Gurdaspur: The Indian Army has launched large-scale rescue and relief missions in flood-hit regions of Jammu, Pathankot, and Punjab. Troops and aviation assets of the White Knight Corps and Northern Command have carried out sustained operations under extreme weather conditions, saving hundreds of lives.
White Knight Corps’ Daring Air Rescue in Jaurian
On August 26, 2025, Army Aviation units of the White Knight Corps executed a high-risk air evacuation in the Jaurian area. Twenty-seven stranded civilians, trapped on inundated islands, were rescued through 17 helicopter shuttles over a ten-hour span. Despite heavy rains and adverse conditions, the troops acted as first responders, reinforcing their commitment to public safety.
Flood Relief Efforts in Jammu and Pathankot
The Indian Army has deployed 13 dedicated Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) columns in the Jammu and Pathankot regions. Operating in coordination with civil authorities, the troops evacuated 635 civilians, including 12 Border Security Force (BSF) and 22 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. The Army continues to provide critical aid to affected communities, demonstrating rapid response in disaster scenarios.

Punjab Operations: Army Aviation Saves 27 in Gurdaspur
On August 27, 2025, Army Aviation helicopters undertook flood relief operations in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district. At around 4 PM, three Cheetah helicopters responded to reports of rising waters in Lassian village. Despite extreme flying conditions, the aviators conducted multiple sorties, rescuing 27 civilians in a daring mission that showcased skill and determination.

In total, 689 people have been rescued across Jammu, Pathankot, and Punjab. The Indian Army’s efforts, combining ground columns and aviation assets, highlight its readiness to protect citizens during emergencies.
