Hyderabad: In a major boost to India’s border security, Hyderabad-based Indrajaal Drone Defence on Wednesday unveiled Indrajaal Ranger, the country’s first fully mobile, AI-enabled anti-drone patrol vehicle. Designed to detect, track, and neutralise hostile drones on the move, the system comes amid a surge in cross-border drone smuggling of weapons, explosives, and narcotics, making it a game-changer in India’s counter-drone and national security capabilities.
“Smugglers no longer cross borders on foot; they cross through the air in minutes. Indrajaal Ranger is India’s answer to this new battlefield,” said Kiran Raju, founder and CEO of Indrajaal Drone Defence.
Countering Rising Drone Threats
The launch comes in response to recent security incidents highlighting the threat posed by drones –
Cross-border drone trafficking, linked to Pakistan’s ISI, where weapons were smuggled deep into Indian territory.
The Border Security Force (BSF) neutralising 255 Pakistani drones this year, underscoring the role of drones in India’s Rs 3-lakh-crore drug-trafficking network.
The Indrajaal Ranger is designed as a purpose-built combat vehicle capable of –
- On-the-move drone detection
- Real-time patrolling and surveillance
- Autonomous threat assessment through AI
- Instant interception and neutralisation
Seamless coverage across border roads, canals, agricultural belts, critical infrastructure, and urban areas
Technical Specifications
Built on an all-terrain 4×4 platform and powered by SkyOS™ autonomy engine, the Indrajaal Ranger features –
- Detection radius: 10 km
- Cyber takeover of drones: 5 km radius
- Jamming/soft-kill: 3 km radius

During the launch, Lieutenant General Devendra Pratap Pandey (Retd), former GOC of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, called the vehicle a “shield to protect Indian citizens”, highlighting its significance for national security.
Strategic Importance
The ADPV addresses India’s evolving security landscape, where drones have become a primary channel for smuggling drugs, weapons, and explosives. Its mobile and autonomous capabilities ensure rapid response to aerial threats, making it ideal for deployment by border forces, police units, and security agencies across India.
“This innovation marks a major leap in India’s defence readiness,” the company said, emphasizing the need for proactive countermeasures against drone-enabled threats along western and northern borders.
