New Delhi: Every year on 27 October, the Indian Army observes Infantry Day, also known as Shaurya Diwas, to celebrate and remember the vital role of its Infantry in defending the nation.
This date was chosen because on 27 October 1947, the first infantry units landed at Srinagar airport to repel the Pakistan-backed tribal invasion — a key moment in India’s defence history.
The 2025 commemoration marks the 79th observance of this day.
