Union Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy recently inaugurated a new air separation unit (ASU) at SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand. This project, with an investment of ₹750 crore, was set up by INOX Air Products (INOXAP).
The newly launched ASU is the largest of its kind for INOXAP, with a capacity to produce 2,150 tonnes per day (TPD) of industrial gases. This includes 2,000 TPD of gaseous oxygen, 150 TPD of liquid oxygen, 1,200 TPD of gaseous nitrogen, and 100 TPD of argon.
Siddharth Jain, Managing Director of INOXAP, expressed the company’s commitment to continued investments and efforts to meet the gas requirements of the steel sector. This marks INOXAP’s second ASU project for SAIL. The company is India’s largest producer of industrial and medical gases.
