In a strategic administrative move aimed at strengthening law enforcement efficiency across the state, the Punjab Police have announced a major reshuffle involving several senior and mid-level officers. A total of eighteen IPS officers and sixty-one DSP-rank officers have been assigned new postings, a development widely viewed as part of the state’s preparations for the upcoming Local Bodies elections.

As part of the new restructuring, one DIG, two AIGs and fifteen SP-rank officers have received fresh assignments. These changes reflect the government’s focus on enhancing operational readiness and ensuring smooth administrative functioning during the pre-election phase.
DIG Surinderjit Singh Mand Shifts to Prisons Department
Mr. Surinderjit Singh Mand, IPS, has been placed at the disposal of the Prisons Department and posted as DIG Prisons. His experience is expected to bolster internal management and security reforms within the department.
New Roles for AIG-Level Officers
Mr. Kanwaldeep Singh, IPS, has been appointed as AIG Crime, Bureau of Investigation, Punjab, Chandigarh, reinforcing the state’s investigative and crime-monitoring capabilities.
Mr. Parambir Singh Parmar, IPS, has been posted as AIG Law and Order-II, Punjab, Chandigarh. His new role strengthens the department’s law and order apparatus at a crucial time.
