An FIR has been filed against IPS officer Amit Kumar II and 17 other police personnel following a Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) order regarding the alleged kidnapping of dismissed head constable Mr. Anil Singh. Mr. Singh, who had exposed corruption in the Chandauli police department, was dismissed from service in 2021.
According to the FIR, Singh accused senior officers, including the then Chandauli SP, of extorting Rs. 12.5 lakh monthly from the public. A Vigilance inquiry in 2021 confirmed the allegations. Singh claimed he was dismissed as retaliation and accused the officers of abducting him on September 5, 2021, from his in-laws’ village in Ghazipur, intending to kill him.
Mr. Singh alleged he was held in illegal custody for two days and implicated in a fabricated case. His daughter’s timely intervention alerted the police, leading to his rescue. After evaluating the evidence, the CJM court ordered an FIR against the officers on September 21, 2024.
Nandganj Police have registered the case and initiated an investigation. The FIR names IPS officer Amit Kumar II (2015-batch), SWAT Inspector Rajiv Kumar Singh, Inspector Ajit Kumar Singh, and other personnel from Chandauli and nearby districts.
