The Jharkhand Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mr. Hemant Soren, is scheduled to convene a critical meeting on Wednesday, September 25, at 3:00 PM in the Council of Ministers’ chamber located within the Jharkhand Secretariat (Project Building).
As per the official notification by the Cabinet Secretariat and Monitoring Department (Coordination), ministers from all departments are expected to attend. The meeting is anticipated to deliberate on several developmental, environmental, and policy-oriented proposals aimed at strengthening state governance.
Proposal to Declare Saranda Forest a Wildlife Sanctuary Likely on Agenda
Among the major proposals, a key item likely to be tabled is the declaration of Saranda Forest as a wildlife sanctuary. The Forest and Environment Department has reportedly been preparing the necessary documentation for this move, working actively until late Tuesday evening.
The Supreme Court has also issued directives underscoring the ecological significance of the region, which is considered one of Asia’s most pristine Sal forests. The sanctuary status would not only enhance biodiversity conservation but also improve eco-tourism and sustainable forest management in the state.
Cabinet Expected to Approve Other High-Impact Proposals
Apart from environmental initiatives, the cabinet may also consider proposals related to infrastructure development, social welfare programs, and administrative reforms, though official details remain under wraps until post-meeting disclosures.
These approvals are part of a broader governance push by Mr. Soren’s administration to align state policies with national development goals, while ensuring inclusive growth for tribal and rural communities in Jharkhand.
Previous Cabinet Approved 67 Proposals Including Displacement Commission Rules
In its previous session on September 2, the Jharkhand Cabinet approved a record 67 proposals, reflecting a strong administrative drive. Among these, the cabinet passed the rules of procedure for the Jharkhand State Displacement and Rehabilitation Commission, a long-awaited institutional mechanism to safeguard displaced families’ rights and entitlements.
Additionally, the cabinet approved a symbolic yet emotional proposal to rename the Morabadi residence of late Mr. Shibu Soren in honor of his wife, Ms. Rupi Soren, who is also the mother of the current Chief Minister.
Administrative Focus on Sustainable Development and Community Welfare
With policy initiatives such as the Saranda sanctuary proposal, the Soren government continues to focus on sustainability, tribal welfare, environmental preservation, and governance transparency. These decisions reflect an integrated vision of balancing ecological priorities with inclusive development.
The outcomes of the cabinet meeting will be officially released post-approval and are expected to set the tone for the state’s developmental roadmap in the months ahead.
