Jharkhand is set to welcome 15 new IAS officers in the coming year, with nine officers from the State Administrative Service and six from non-administrative services slated for promotion to the IAS cadre. Following these additions, the total number of IAS officers in the state will rise to 173, though the sanctioned strength is 224. Currently, Jharkhand has 158 IAS officers in service.
Promotions from Jharkhand Administrative Service:
Nine officers from the Jharkhand Administrative Service are expected to be promoted, with seven already providing their No Objection Certificates (NOCs). The officers shortlisted for the IAS cadre promotion include:

Non-Administrative Service Promotions:
The state government has submitted a list of eligible officers from non-administrative services to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for consideration. These promotions will address six backlog vacancies from 2020-2021 and 2021-2022.
The list includes officers from various departments, such as:
- Social Welfare: Seven officers
- Education: Three officers
- Road Construction: Three officers
- Labour Department: Two officers
- Commercial Tax, Health, Agriculture, JREDA, Cabinet, and IPRD: One officer each
