Ranchi: Jharkhand, a state celebrated for its rich tribal heritage, art, music, and cultural traditions, is set to welcome a world-class cultural centre with the construction of Rabindra Bhavan in Ranchi. Developed by the Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company (JUIDCO) under the Urban Development Department, the massive cultural complex has been built at an estimated cost of ₹2244 crore.
The state-of-the-art facility is expected to become a major hub for cultural activities in Jharkhand and across eastern India, providing opportunities for artists, performers, writers, and cultural enthusiasts.
Facilities and Features of Rabindra Bhavan
Rabindra Bhavan reflects Jharkhand’s tribal identity, with its walls adorned in bold Sohrai art. The centre houses a 1,500-seat auditorium equipped with world-class lighting and sound systems, ranking it among the most advanced cultural venues in the region.

The facility is supported by modern infrastructure, including rainwater harvesting systems, sewage and water treatment plants, fire-safety mechanisms, and ample parking space, ensuring a safe and sustainable environment for cultural activities.

Ashutosh Singh, Public Relations Officer at JUIDCO, said, “The centre will be inaugurated at the earliest and will be open not only to the artists of the state but also to cultural artists from across eastern India. Bengali cultural artist Subir Lahini expressed his appreciation, stating, “I express my gratitude to Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the Jharkhand government for gifting such a magnificent auditorium to the people of Ranchi.”
Academician and writer Dr. Kamal Bose noted, “When the infrastructure is strong, creativity also flourishes. This building is equipped with all modern facilities. When facilities are available, obstacles fade away. Writers, artists, and litterateurs will come here with complete dedication, sit together, and create, thereby strengthening creativity.”
