Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), the country’s leading container port, registered a 13.55% increase in container traffic, handling 73.01 lakh TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) in the financial year 2024-25, up from 64.30 lakh TEUs in the previous fiscal.
The port also highlighted a significant milestone achieved by Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal (BMCT), which handled a record 2.22 lakh TEUs in March 2025 and 2.27 million TEUs over the year. BMCT expanded its operations with the launch of Phase-2 on February 5.
Meanwhile, APM Terminals continued its strong performance, securing a position among terminals handling over 2 million TEUs by recording a total of 2.08 million TEUs during the fiscal.
Speaking on the achievements, JNPA Chairman Unmesh Sharad Wagh emphasised the port’s role in driving efficiency, sustainability, and global trade competitiveness. He noted that JNPA’s terminal operators are actively integrating advanced technology and eco-friendly practices to enhance trade facilitation and strengthen its position as a leading hub for port-led development.
