A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav was held at the Secretariat on Tuesday. The cabinet approved a consultancy fee of Rs. 9 lakh per kilometre (plus GST) to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited for preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Shri Mahakaleshwar-Uchch Jain-Lavkush Chauraha stretch of the Ujjain-Indore-Pithampur metro line. This DPR marks the first phase of the ambitious project, with the second phase focusing on the Lavkush-Pithampur Metro Rail Project.
Strengthening Police Infrastructure with Tablets and CCTNS Expansion
The cabinet also approved the purchase of 25,000 tablets for police officers under the Vivechana App scheme. This will cost Rs. 75 crore over five years (2021–22 to 2025–26), as part of the larger CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems) project. The revised outlay for the project now stands at Rs. 177 crore 87 lakh 51 thousand.
The CCTNS project, originally approved in 2012 for implementation across all police stations in the state, aims to digitise and modernise investigations. Officers will now be able to record and process cases directly at the spot through e-investigation apps. In the first phase, 1,732 tablets were distributed, while the new approval significantly expands the scope.
Approval of 610 New Posts in Prosecution Directorate
To strengthen the criminal justice system, the cabinet approved 610 new posts under the Directorate of Public Prosecution. These include 185 posts of Additional Public Prosecutors, 255 posts of Additional District Prosecution Officers, 100 posts of Assistant District Prosecution Officers, and 70 assistant staff positions.
This move aligns with the principle of ensuring “one prosecutor per court,” enhancing the efficiency of trials and criminal justice delivery across Madhya Pradesh. Around Rs. 60 crore will be spent over three years on creating these posts.
Competitive Electricity Purchase for Thermal Power Project
In a major step toward power security, M.P. Power Management Company Limited has been authorised to purchase 800 MW, 1600 MW, and 800 MW of electricity from three selected developers for the proposed 4,000 MW (3,200+800 MW GreenU model) thermal power project.
The company will also purchase an additional 800 MW using the GreenSoo provision. It has been permitted to approach the M.P. Electricity Regulatory Commission for tariff approval, ensuring transparency in power procurement.
Push for Solar and Wind Power to Support Drinking Water Schemes
The cabinet approved the setting up of 100 MW solar and 60 MW wind power projects on captive mode to support the operation of rural drinking water schemes managed by Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam.
Currently, 147 group drinking water supply schemes are under implementation to serve over 75 lakh families across 35,000 villages at a cost of Rs. 60,796 crore. The renewable energy projects will reduce operational costs and ensure sustainable water supply.
