In a high-level review meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav directed officials to ensure that fertilizers are made available to farmers in a systematic and farmer-friendly manner ahead of the Kharif 2025 season. He emphasized the need for transparency and vigilance in fertilizer distribution and issued strict instructions against black marketing and misuse of subsidized urea.
Fertilizer Distribution Must Be Streamlined
Dr. Yadav instructed that detailed information regarding fertilizer racks and district-level distribution systems should be gathered within the next seven days and publicized widely in areas where urea demand is high. He stressed that the fertilizer supply system is under continuous monitoring at the state level and that any irregularities will not be tolerated.
To handle crowds at fertilizer sale centers, the Chief Minister ordered the arrangement of additional counters to expedite sales. He also urged district administrations to ensure proper fertilizer storage at Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and marketing association sales centers, in accordance with prescribed norms.
Surprise Inspections and Stringent Measures Against Misuse
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav asked district collectors to carry out surprise inspections of double-lock centers, PACS, and private sales points. He raised concerns over the misuse of subsidized urea in non-agricultural sectors such as animal feed, poultry feed, lamination, resin, plywood, paint, liquor, printing, and even in adulterated milk production.
He directed officials to inspect these industries and take immediate action if instances of subsidized urea misuse are detected.
Push for Nano Urea and Potential Home Delivery Model
Highlighting the benefits of nano urea, Dr. Yadav urged officials to promote its use among farmers as a sustainable and efficient alternative. He also suggested exploring the possibility of launching a home delivery service for fertilizers to meet farmer requirements and curb hoarding or unauthorized usage.
Ongoing Crackdown Yields Results
It was reported in the meeting that action has already been initiated against offenders in the fertilizer supply chain. So far, 30 FIRs have been lodged in cases related to black marketing, illegal storage or transportation, and sale of fake fertilizers. Additionally, 56 licenses have been cancelled, 70 suspended, and 188 sales outlets have been banned for violations.

The joint review meeting was attended by Revenue Minister Mr. Karan Singh Verma, Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Mr. Edal Singh Kanshana, Cooperation Minister Mr. Vishwas Sarang, Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Jain, and other senior officers from relevant departments.
