Bhopal: In a major boost to sustainable and experience-based tourism, Madhya Pradesh Tourism is all set to launch two immersive eco-adventure retreats — the Gandhisagar Forest Retreat and the Kuno Forest Retreat — in September and October 2025 respectively.
These retreats aim to offer a blend of adventure, wellness, nature, and local culture, marking a significant leap in eco-tourism and community-driven development in the state.
Gandhisagar Forest Retreat to Launch on September 12
Located along the picturesque backwaters of the Chambal River in Mandsaur, the Gandhisagar Forest Retreat opens on September 12. The retreat will offer:
- 50 luxury glamping tents with all-season facilities
- Adventure sports: Parasailing, paramotoring, jet skiing
- Nature experiences: Jungle safaris, Butterfly Garden, Rock Garden, boat safari, and boat spa
- Cultural immersion: Local cuisine, handicrafts, conservation workshops
This retreat aims to position Madhya Pradesh as a premier destination for adventure and eco-tourism, while also generating local employment and spreading eco-awareness.
Kuno Forest Retreat Near Cheetah Reserve Opens October 5
Situated near the world-famous Kuno National Park in Sheopur district, the Kuno Forest Retreat launches on October 5. Key highlights include-
- 25 glamping tents set in serene forest surroundings
- Jungle safaris with chances to spot cheetahs and other wildlife
- Wellness activities: Yoga sessions, hot air ballooning, star gazing, night walks
- Cultural experiences: Folk performances, traditional cuisine, and local crafts
- Educational focus: A dedicated Cheetah Interpretation Centre for conservation awareness
- Leaders Speak: Tourism as a Tool for Conservation and Empowerment
Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism) and MD, MP Tourism Board, emphasized that these are more than just retreats:
“Guests will enjoy high-quality, fully equipped glamping and indulge in water, land, and aerial adventure activities. These retreats represent a new form of tourism that connects visitors with the culture, lifestyle, and natural beauty of Madhya Pradesh.“
He further noted that these events are designed with a strong focus on sustainable development, community participation, and environmental conservation.
Tourism Minister Dharmendra Singh Lodhi added:
“These retreats are holistic efforts to integrate nature, culture, and sustainability. They’re not just tourism festivals; they represent a new vision for ecological and cultural preservation.”

Both the Gandhisagar and Kuno retreats are expected to draw global tourism attention while actively empowering local communities and promoting responsible tourism practices.
