Alirajpur: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Wednesday said that Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas is celebrated with the same joy and reverence as Diwali and Holi, emphasizing the indomitable spirit and sacrifice of India’s tribal heroes. He was addressing a state-level event held in Alirajpur on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda and the fifth Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.
Dr. Yadav unveiled the statues of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and 1857 freedom fighter Shaheed Chitu Kirad, calling it a “moment of divine privilege and immense pride.” Tribal communities welcomed him warmly on his arrival.
Honouring Tribal Heroes and Their Legacy
The Chief Minister recalled the contributions of Birsa Munda, Tantya Mama, Chandra Shekhar Azad, and Chitu Kirad, highlighting their courage in resisting British oppression. He noted that although tribal warriors played a key role in India’s independence struggle, their sacrifices did not receive due recognition after Independence.
He added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country is restoring the honour and legacy of tribal icons with renewed respect.

Alirajpur: Land of Tribal Pride, Culture, and Valour
CM Yadav praised Alirajpur as the land of rich tribal culture, courage, and self-respect. He highlighted the region’s historic connection to tribal king Raja Alia, a symbol of leadership and pride.
He reiterated the state government’s commitment to inclusive development, saying that Alirajpur is receiving special attention in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and livelihood enhancement.
₹200 Crore Worth of Development Projects Inaugurated
During the event, CM Yadav inaugurated multiple development projects worth nearly ₹200 crore, including:
- Palas Pani Talab and Masni Barrage (₹11 crore)
- A high-level bridge (₹6 crore)
- Three Sandeepani schools
- Twelve tribal senior hostels
- Primary and community health centres
- Boys’ and girls’ hostels
- IPHL laboratory facilities
He also performed the bhumi pujan for 51 new development works worth ₹50 crore.

Government’s Commitment to Welfare Schemes
The Chief Minister highlighted key welfare schemes implemented for women, farmers, and tribal communities.
He said that under the Ladli Behna Yojana, women are now receiving ₹1,500 every month, enabling them to support their families and children’s education.
He also said that farmers are receiving additional support under the CM Kisan Kalyan Yojana, along with fair prices for soybean under the Bhavantar Yojana. The state will procure wheat at ₹2,600 per quintal, he added.
Irrigation, Employment, and Compensation Announcements
Dr. Yadav announced that water from the Narmada River will soon benefit 170 villages in the district. He also emphasized upcoming employment opportunities through diamond polishing units.
Addressing crop loss due to yellow mosaic disease, the Chief Minister declared ₹45 crore compensation for affected farmers.
Additionally, he announced that 20 wells in every gram panchayat under MGNREGA will be connected to electricity supply after technical evaluation.
Minister N.S. Chauhan Highlights Key Development Gains
Minister for Scheduled Caste Welfare Nagar Singh Chauhan said that Alirajpur is witnessing rapid development under CM Yadav’s leadership. More than 50,000 wells have been constructed under the Kapildhara Yojana, substantially expanding irrigation capacity.
He said the district continues to receive significant benefits in roads, electricity, and community-focused infrastructure.

Distribution of Benefits to Beneficiaries
CM Yadav distributed benefits to several beneficiaries under government schemes.
Notably, BC Sakhi Supriya from Nargawan—who rows a boat across the river to offer banking services in remote villages—was honoured for her extraordinary service under the Rural Livelihood Mission.
Loans worth ₹3.80 crore were distributed to 179 self-help groups.
Under the PM-KUSUM Yojana, Sunayana Dawar from Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar was awarded benefits worth ₹3.15 crore for her contribution to renewable energy.
CM Reviews Exhibition Showcasing Tribal Heritage and State Initiatives
The Chief Minister visited various departmental exhibitions displaying tribal heritage, nutritional awareness, rural livelihood products, Ayurvedic medicines, organic farming initiatives, and local handicrafts.
Tribal culture, traditional artefacts, millet-based nutrition products, handloom items, and agricultural innovations were major highlights of the exhibition.

The Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas program in Alirajpur concluded with a strong message of pride, cultural identity, and all-round development for tribal communities. CM Yadav reaffirmed the state’s commitment to honouring tribal history while expanding opportunities for education, healthcare, irrigation, and employment across Madhya Pradesh’s tribal regions.
