Bhopal: In a major education outreach initiative, Mohan Yadav on Wednesday launched the state-level Praveshotsav (Admission Festival) 2026 under the School Chalen Hum campaign in Bhopal, turning the first day of the academic drive into a celebratory event for thousands of schoolchildren across Madhya Pradesh.
The programme was inaugurated at Model Higher Secondary School, where the Chief Minister distributed free bicycles, books and educational support material to students and interacted directly with children and parents.
Books, Bicycles and Warm Welcome for Students
The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Chief Minister, followed by a flower shower on schoolchildren.
Children who had decided to return to school were presented with books, while their parents were felicitated as part of the enrolment encouragement effort.
Students also showcased exhibits prepared by them, which the Chief Minister visited before interacting with them and taking selfies.
Special attention was given to students from distant areas, who were provided bicycles to help them travel to school regularly.

CM Says Thousands Joined Schools in a Single Day
Addressing the gathering, Mohan Yadav described the day as significant because thousands of children were enrolling in schools simultaneously across the state.
He said that students whose schools are located far from their homes are being given bicycles to ensure uninterrupted education.
The Chief Minister also referred to ongoing support measures such as school uniform assistance and textbook distribution.
Government Claims Dropout Rate Has Reached Zero
One of the major announcements during the programme was the state government’s claim that the school dropout rate in Madhya Pradesh has now fallen to zero.
According to the Chief Minister, this reflects growing confidence among parents in the public education system.
He also stated that school enrolment has increased by 19.6 percent, calling it a major achievement for the education department.

Government School Progress Up by 32.4 Percent
The Chief Minister further said that academic progress in government schools has improved by 32.4 percent, indicating stronger acceptance of public schools.
He highlighted facilities available in PM SHRI Schools and Sandipani Schools, stating that these institutions now offer quality infrastructure and learning support.
According to him, some students are even shifting from private schools to these government institutions.
Local Language Textbooks in Tribal Regions
Referring to the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, the Chief Minister said textbooks are being distributed in local languages in tribal regions to improve learning accessibility.
Large Hostel Network for Tribal Students
The Chief Minister also highlighted educational support for tribal students, saying:
• 1,913 hostels are currently operating
• Total hostel capacity is around 95,000 students
• More than 20 lakh students are studying in over 25,000 schools under Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department

Simplified Admissions and Student Welfare Measures
The state government has also simplified admission procedures for:
• Class 1
• Class 6
• Class 9
Additional student welfare measures include:
• laptops for nearly 1 lakh meritorious students
• ₹250 crore budget allocation for laptop support
• scholarships for school toppers
• uniforms distributed to 55 lakh students
Teacher Recruitment Strengthened
The Chief Minister stated that more than 76,000 teachers have already been appointed, which he described as a major step toward improving education delivery.
Education Minister Calls the Day ‘Like Diwali’
Uday Pratap Singh said the day was as joyful for the education department as Diwali.
He announced that 1 crore children have now been enrolled across the state and said the department remains focused on preventing dropouts.
He also revealed plans to organise book fairs at block level so that both government and private school students can access affordable textbooks through the state textbook corporation.

Tribal Welfare Minister Highlights Expanded Student Support
Kunwar Vijay Shah said that under the present government, government schools are providing:
• mid-day meals
• free textbooks
• bicycles
• scooters
• laptops
He said the state’s education system has seen significant strengthening in recent years.
Education Push Linked to Broader Welfare Agenda
The programme is being seen as part of a wider education and welfare strategy focused on increasing retention, access and trust in public schools.
With enrolment, transport support and student incentives being pushed together, the state government aims to expand school participation across all regions.
