Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Sunday formally launched ‘Farmer Welfare Year–2026’ at a grand state-level programme held at Jamboree Ground, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to increasing farmers’ income, reducing cultivation costs, and promoting modern and sustainable agriculture.
Addressing farmers, the Chief Minister announced several farmer-centric initiatives related to fertiliser distribution, Minimum Support Price (MSP), crop diversification, irrigation expansion, renewable energy, and agri-based industries. A massive rally of 1,101 tractors was also flagged off on the occasion, symbolising unity, confidence, and the government’s pro-farmer approach.
No More Queues for Fertiliser, Digital Intimation on Mobile
Dr Yadav announced that farmers in the state will no longer have to stand in long queues for fertilisers. Information regarding fertiliser availability will now be sent directly to farmers through SMS alerts on their mobile phones, ensuring timely access and eliminating inconvenience.
He also informed that procurement of kodo and kutki millets at MSP has already begun, while efforts are underway to include mustard under the Bhavantar (price difference) scheme.

Madhya Pradesh First State to Dedicate an Entire Year to Farmers
The Chief Minister said Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to dedicate an entire year exclusively to farmer welfare. “Increasing farmers’ income and reducing their cost of cultivation is our core objective,” he said, adding that the government is promoting crop diversification, natural farming, and modern agricultural technologies.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also launched the “e-Vikas Distribution” and “Agricultural Fertiliser Supply Solution” mobile applications to strengthen transparency and efficiency in service delivery.
Integrated Approach with 16 Departments on One Platform
To make Farmer Welfare Year effective, Dr Yadav said that 16 departments, including agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, horticulture, and vegetable production, have been brought together on a single platform. This integrated approach will ensure farmers receive comprehensive benefits directly and without delays.
Irrigation Expansion and Green Energy Push
Highlighting major irrigation projects, the Chief Minister said that mega recharge projects such as Ken–Betwa, Parvati–Kalisindh, and Tapti Basin will provide irrigation to over 16 lakh hectares across 25 districts, directly benefiting farmers in Bundelkhand, Chambal, Malwa, Nimar, and surrounding regions.
He noted that Madhya Pradesh is the only state in the country where the net cultivated area has increased by 2.5 lakh hectares.
Dr Yadav also announced that 30 lakh solar pumps will be provided to farmers over the next three years, enabling access to free electricity for farming, households, and small industries.

Farmers to Become Entrepreneurs
The Chief Minister emphasised that farmers should not remain limited to cultivation alone but should also become entrepreneurs and industrial partners. The state government will support farmers through subsidies in dairy, food processing, animal husbandry, and MSME sectors.
Under the 25-cow-based dairy scheme, farmers will receive assistance to become self-reliant. The government also plans to develop food parks for perishable crops such as potato, tomato, and onion to prevent losses and ensure better prices.
Research Centres for Key Crops
Dr Yadav announced the establishment of a Mr. Anna (millets) Research Centre in Dindori, a mustard research centre in Gwalior, and a gram (chickpea) research centre in Ujjain to improve crop quality and productivity.
He reiterated that wheat procurement will continue at ₹2,600 per quintal, with the government committed to raising MSP to ₹2,700 per quintal. A proposal has also been sent to the Centre to include mustard under the Bhavantar scheme, similar to soybean.
Tractor Rally Symbolises Farmer Unity
The programme concluded with a spectacular tractor rally featuring 1,101 tractors on Kokta Bypass Road. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav personally drove a tractor to flag off the rally.
Calling it more than a ceremonial event, he said the rally represents farmers’ unity, confidence, and the government’s unwavering commitment to agriculture. “All future departmental policies will now be framed keeping farmers’ interests at the centre,” he asserted.
The launch of Farmer Welfare Year–2026 marks a decisive step by the Madhya Pradesh government toward making agriculture more profitable, sustainable, and future-ready.
