Mandla — On the auspicious occasion of Lord Balram Jayanti, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav distributed ₹1,671 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 8.2 million (82 lakh) farmers under the Mukhyamantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana (MKKY). The occasion, celebrated as part of the Haldhar Festival, saw Dr. Yadav not only leading the fund disbursement but also laying the foundation and inaugurating development works worth ₹106 crore.
Financial Support Reaches Farmers Instantly
Dr. Yadav described August 14 as a momentous day for the state’s farming community. “Through a single click, the Kisan Kalyan Yojana benefit has reached the accounts of more than 8.2 million farmers,” he said during the event held in Mandla.
The Kisan Kalyan Yojana provides farmers with an annual aid of ₹6,000 from the state, supplementing the central PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, thereby offering a total potential benefit of ₹12,000 per year via quarterly installments of ₹2,000 each.

Infrastructure Boost: ₹106 Crore Development Works Launched
Coinciding with the payout, Chief Minister Yadav also laid the foundation and officially inaugurated 41 development projects across various sectors, with a cumulative cost of approximately ₹106 crore. These initiatives aim to bolster agriculture, infrastructure, and rural development in the region.
Focus on Farmers, Education, and Digital Governance
Dr. Yadav highlighted that MP’s rapid growth in agriculture stems from consistent policy support and modernization of governance. He announced that the state would introduce procurement of minor millets (like kodon-kutki) at Minimum Support Price (MSP), broadening the safety net for marginal farmers. He also emphasized equality between farmers and soldiers, equating the importance of feeding the nation to that of defending it.
Reflecting on the state’s progress, he noted that when MP was formed in 1956, only 7.5 lakh hectares were irrigated. Under his administration, over 44 lakh hectares have achieved irrigation coverage within just 1.25 years through focused investment in infrastructure.

From Legacy to Leadership
Dr. Yadav also criticized the previous 55-year Congress administration for neglecting farming and rural infrastructure. In contrast, he said, his government has expanded irrigation, built roads, schools, and power networks, and introduced 16 government and 52 private agriculture colleges — up from just two institutions decades ago.
He wrapped up his speech with a heartfelt appeal to celebrate Balram Jayanti and Independence Day with renewed pride and unity, urging citizens to display the national flag, chant slogans, and honor the spirit of the nation and its farmers.
