New Delhi: State-owned telecom operator Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has announced a key change in its Board of Directors with the appointment of a new Government Nominee Director and the cessation of the incumbent nominee, in line with regulatory disclosure requirements.
Change in Government Nominee Director
MTNL informed stock exchanges that Mr. Shivendu Gupta, Deputy Director General (WPF), Department of Telecommunications (DoT), has ceased to be the Government Nominee Director with effect from January 13, 2026. His exit follows the withdrawal of nomination by the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

Sunil Kumar Ranjan Appointed
Simultaneously, the company announced the appointment of Mr. Sunil Kumar Ranjan, Deputy Director General (C&A), DoT, as the new Government Nominee Director on the Board of MTNL. His appointment has come into effect immediately and will remain valid for a period of three years, or until his date of superannuation, or until further orders—whichever is earlier.
Regulatory Compliance
MTNL stated that the board-level change has been duly disclosed in compliance with Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The company requested stock exchanges to take the information on record.
