Bhubaneswar: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Mines, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NLC India Limited (NLCIL) to strengthen collaboration in thermal captive power and renewable energy development.
MoU Aims to Secure Long-Term Power Needs
The MoU focuses on supporting NALCO’s captive and long-term power requirements, ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy supply for its operations. The partnership will explore long-term power tie-ups, coal supply arrangements, and joint project development, with an emphasis on environmentally sustainable solutions.

Signing Ceremony and Key Officials
The agreement was signed at Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, in the presence of:
- Mr. Jagdish Arora, Director (Projects & Technical), NALCO
- Mr. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL
- Directors of NLCIL
The MoU establishes a structured framework for future collaboration in both thermal and renewable energy projects.
Focus on Renewable Energy Development
Alongside the 1080 MW thermal captive power project, the MoU encourages initiatives in renewable energy development, aligning with India’s sustainable energy goals. Both companies aim to explore joint ventures and innovative energy solutions to meet growing power demands efficiently.
