New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Ashish Nath, IDSE (1999), as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. The official order, issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), states that Nath will hold the post at the level of Joint Secretary for an initial tenure of three years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders, whichever comes first.
Key Responsibilities in Vigilance Administration
In his new role, Nath will be responsible for overseeing vigilance administration, integrity enforcement, and anti-corruption measures within NHAI. The position of CVO is critical for ensuring transparency, accountability, and adherence to ethical standards across the organisation, which manages one of India’s largest and most crucial infrastructure networks.
As CVO, Nath will coordinate with internal departments, law enforcement agencies, and regulatory bodies to monitor and investigate complaints, implement preventive vigilance measures, and strengthen internal controls. His role will also include promoting awareness on anti-corruption practices, risk management, and maintaining the highest standards of probity across the authority.
