Farakka: In a commendable step towards promoting sustainable transport and enhancing passenger convenience, NTPC Farakka on June 14, 2025, handed over two battery-operated cars to New Farakka Railway Station. This initiative aligns with NTPC’s commitment to community development and environmental stewardship.
The zero-emission vehicles are expected to significantly improve mobility for passengers within the station premises, particularly for the elderly, differently-abled, and those with heavy luggage – providing a comfortable and eco-friendly commuting option.

Dignitaries Attend Handover Ceremony
The handover event witnessed the presence of senior officials from both NTPC Farakka and Indian Railways (Malda Division). Distinguished attendees included:
- Manish Kumar Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Malda
- Ajay Singhal, Executive Director, NTPC Farakka
- Sanjay Srivastava, GM (O&M), NTPC Farakka
Other dignitaries and officers from the Eastern Railway’s Malda Division and NTPC Farakka
Their presence underlined the importance of collaborative efforts between public sector enterprises and Indian Railways for sustainable development.
A Step Toward Green Initiatives
Battery-operated vehicles contribute to reduced carbon emissions, noise pollution, and operational costs. NTPC Farakka’s donation is part of its larger corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability vision. It aims to set an example for similar collaborations across the country.
These vehicles are expected to be operational shortly, offering daily convenience to thousands of passengers passing through New Farakka Station.
