The Odisha government has forwarded a request from IPS officer Gajbhiye SK Ishwardas (IPS: 2002: OR) to the Union Home Ministry for further consideration. In his request, Ishwardas asked the state authorities not to relieve him from the state cadre.
Ishwardas was recommended for inclusion in the Offer List-2024 by the Government of India, and on December 6, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) approved his appointment as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the CRPF. Following this, the Odisha state government placed his services at the MHA’s disposal on December 12, and he was formally relieved by the state police headquarters on December 30, 2024.
However, Ishwardas later submitted a formal representation to the state government, explaining that he had not been empaneled for IG-level positions at the central level and was unwilling to take up the new assignment. He requested that he be retained in the state cadre and not be relieved for the CRPF post.
