Operation Sindoor Aftermath: 6 Months On, Pakistan Still Struggles to Recover from Devastating Indian Airstrikes

Renowned geo-intelligence and open-source intelligence (OSINT) expert Damien Simon has revealed that Pakistan is still struggling to restore its damaged facilities.

New Delhi: Over six months have passed since India executed Operation Sindoor, targeting Pakistan’s key military installations, yet the neighboring country is still grappling with the aftermath. The operation, carried out by the Indian armed forces, inflicted substantial damage on multiple airbases and other strategic locations, leaving Pakistan in a state of urgent repair and reconstruction.

Ex-Post Analysis by Geo-Intelligence Expert

Renowned geo-intelligence and open-source intelligence (OSINT) expert Damien Simon has revealed that Pakistan is still struggling to restore its damaged facilities. According to Simon’s ex-post, satellite imagery indicates that Rawalpindi’s Nur Khan Airbase, a major target during Operation Sindoor, is undergoing accelerated development of new facilities, while reconstruction work continues at the Jacobabad Airbase in northern Sindh, particularly the hangars damaged during the strikes.

Operation Sindoor: Key Targets

Operation Sindoor, executed between May 6 and 10, targeted eleven key Pakistani military bases. In addition to Nur Khan and Jacobabad, the Indian Army struck airbases in Murid, Rafiqui, Mushaf, Bholari, Qadrim, Sialkot, and Sukkur. The operation was launched as a retaliatory measure following attacks by Pakistan on Indian military installations and civilian areas. Simon notes that Pakistan’s current repair efforts may reflect an assessment phase before full reconstruction of its damaged bases.

Pakistan’s Strategic Vulnerability

The operation reportedly brought Pakistan to a significant strategic disadvantage, with reports suggesting that the country’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) had to appeal for a ceasefire. While Operation Sindoor was formally paused following DGMO-level talks between India and Pakistan, Indian authorities emphasized that the operation was merely halted, not ended.

Implications of a Potential Operation Sindoor 2.0

The lingering effects of Operation Sindoor have raised questions about Pakistan’s preparedness for future conflicts. Experts warn that if India were to launch Operation Sindoor 2.0, Pakistan could face far-reaching devastation, given the current slow pace of recovery at its critical military installations.

Defence Capabilities

Six months after the operation, Pakistan’s military infrastructure remains vulnerable, with key airbases like Nur Khan and Jacobabad still under reconstruction. The situation underscores the strategic impact of Operation Sindoor and the enduring consequences for the neighboring country’s defence capabilities.
