PESB Opens Applications for POWERGRID Director (Operations) Post – Deadline Feb 9, 2026

New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has officially invited applications for the position of Director (Operations) at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power. The vacancy is set to arise on December 1, 2026, and the selected candidate will be appointed for a period of five years, or until superannuation, or until further orders, whichever comes first.

Key Responsibilities of Director (Operations)

The Director (Operations) will serve as a Board member and report directly to the Chairman and Managing Director of POWERGRID. The role entails:

  • Formulating and implementing the operational philosophy of the corporation.
  • Overseeing the management and performance of transmission assets nationwide.
  • Ensuring high reliability, efficiency, and safety standards across the power grid.
  • Promoting adoption of advanced technologies and modernization of transmission systems.
  • Supporting indigenisation initiatives in line with the Government of India’s Atma Nirbhar Bharat program.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants must be engineering graduates with a strong academic record from a recognized university or institute. MBA qualification will be an added advantage. Candidates should possess significant senior-level technical and operational experience, including at least five years of experience in power transmission systems during the last ten years.

Applications are invited from:

  • Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs)
  • Central Government services (Group ‘A’)
  • State Public Sector Enterprises (SPSEs)
  • Large private sector companies with a minimum average turnover of ₹10,000 crore over the last three financial years

Preference will be given to candidates from listed companies.

Pay Scale and Other Details

  • Pay Scale: ₹1,80,000 – ₹3,40,000 (IDA)
  • Age of Superannuation for CPSE Executives: 60 years
  • Applicants must satisfy residual service criteria as of the date of vacancy

Application Process

Applications are to be submitted online only through the PESB website (https://pesb.gov.in).

  • Last date for candidate submission: February 9, 2026, 3:00 PM
  • Last date for forwarding by nodal officers: February 18, 2026, 5:00 PM

Incomplete or late applications will be rejected. The PESB reserves the right to shortlist candidates for interviews, and final selection will require approval by the competent authority.
