Kurnool: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone today for a crucial transmission system strengthening project by POWERGRID at the Kurnool-III Pooling Station (PS). This major infrastructure initiative is aimed at integrating and evacuating power from upcoming Renewable Energy (RE) projects, reinforcing India’s commitment to achieving a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
Key Leaders Attend Landmark Ceremony
The foundation stone laying ceremony witnessed the presence of several dignitaries including:
- Mr. S. Abdul Nazeer, Hon’ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh
- Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh
- Mr. Konidala Pawan Kalyan, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh
The leaders, along with senior officials and POWERGRID representatives, marked the beginning of a transformative project that will enhance the national power evacuation infrastructure.
₹2,886 Crore Project to Boost Green Energy Infrastructure
With an estimated cost of ₹2,886 crore, the project represents a critical component of India’s transmission network expansion. Its centerpiece is the construction of a 765 kV double-circuit Kurnool-III Pooling Station – Chilakaluripeta transmission line, designed to accommodate the rapidly growing renewable power generation in the region.
Upon completion, the project will increase the transformation capacity by 6,000 MVA, enabling large-scale evacuation of solar and wind energy generated in Andhra Pradesh and nearby regions. This clean energy will be efficiently transmitted to major consumption centers across the country.
Accelerating India’s Green Energy Transition
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development and renewable energy goals. He emphasized that such infrastructure projects form the backbone of India’s economic growth and energy security, especially as the country shifts towards green power.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu expressed his gratitude for the central support and reiterated Andhra Pradesh’s ambition to become a major renewable energy hub. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan added that the strengthening of the transmission system would provide reliable, affordable, and clean power to the state’s industries and citizens, spurring economic growth.
Powering India’s Sustainable Future
The strengthening of the transmission system at Kurnool-III PS will accelerate renewable energy projects, reduce carbon emissions, and stabilize power supply to fuel industrial and economic development. This strategic infrastructure project aligns with the Government of India’s vision to build a robust, future-ready power grid capable of supporting the nation’s ambitious green energy targets.
