New Delhi: NHPC Limited’s Chutak Power Station has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Administration, Kargil, to implement a comprehensive CSR and sustainable development initiative. The agreement, valued at ₹36.25 lakh, focuses on enhancing healthcare, empowering women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and upgrading educational infrastructure in the region.
Strengthening Healthcare Services
Under the MoU, NHPC will provide two ambulances to improve emergency response and healthcare accessibility in remote areas:
- One ambulance for PHE Tiket
- One ambulance for PHE Sangrah
These measures aim to ensure timely medical support for residents in hard-to-reach parts of Kargil, reinforcing the region’s public health services.
Empowering Women and Supporting SHGs
A key component of the initiative focuses on promoting women-led entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods through SHGs. NHPC will provide:
- Tailoring machines
- Wool processing units
- Apricot oil extraction machinery
These resources are expected to generate income opportunities, encourage self-reliance, and strengthen local community development.
Upgrading Education Infrastructure
NHPC will also undertake infrastructure improvements at Government Middle School, Chutuk. Planned upgrades include wooden panelling and flooring work to enhance the learning environment for students, contributing to better educational facilities in the district.
Commitment to Sustainable Development
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from NHPC and the District Administration Kargil, including the Deputy Commissioner and the Group General Manager & Head of Chutak Power Station. The partnership highlights NHPC’s dedication to inclusive growth, community welfare, and sustainable development in project areas.
