BEML Limited, a prominent public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Defence, is further expanding its manufacturing presence with a fresh land allotment in Madhya Pradesh. The state government has sanctioned 60.063 hectares (roughly 148 acres) of land in Umeria, Raisen district, for the establishment of a modern production facility. This unit will focus on the manufacturing of rolling stock and metro coaches, aligning with the growing demand in India’s rail and urban transit sectors.
The move strengthens BEML’s commitment to the ‘Make in India’ vision by enhancing its local manufacturing capabilities and reducing reliance on imports. Once operational, the upcoming plant is expected to contribute significantly to rail infrastructure projects across the country.
This development follows closely on the heels of another strategic land acquisition by BEML in Chhattisgarh. On May 9, the company secured 100 acres in the Janjgir-Champa district, allotted at a token rate of Re 1 per acre. The land will host a cutting-edge unit for manufacturing heavy earth-moving machinery.
BEML, known for its contributions to Defence & Aerospace, Rail & Metro, and Mining & Construction, continues to be a key player in building India’s critical transport and infrastructure systems. The updates were disclosed through a formal filing with both the National Stock Exchange and BSE.
