In a commendable initiative, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna Steel PSU, has undertaken the distribution of assistive devices to Divyangjans (differently-abled individuals) across the country. This effort is being coordinated through SAIL’s Plants/Units and Corporate Office in New Delhi.
At the Corporate Office, a notable event unfolded as Mr. Amarendu Prakash, Chairman of SAIL, inaugurated an exhibition stall. The stall showcased handicraft items crafted by Divyangans and others from various CSR centers associated with SAIL plants.
For the efficient execution of this initiative, SAIL has partnered with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a Mini-Ratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE). ALIMCO serves as the Implementing Agency responsible for identifying beneficiaries, understanding their needs, and providing assistive aids under SAIL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
This significant function has been organized across all Plants/Units of SAIL, with assistive aids being distributed to identified beneficiaries on a PAN India level.
SAIL’s commitment to this cause will persist across several locations in the country. The distributed assistive devices include items such as tricycles, motorized vehicles, calipers, hearing aids, smart phones, smart canes, and more.
Furthermore, SAIL continues its support for various organizations dedicated to Divyangans at its plant locations. Notable initiatives include the ‘School for Blind, Deaf, and Mentally Challenged Children’ and ‘Home and Hope’ at Rourkela, ‘Ashalata Kendra’ at Bokaro, the ‘Handicapped Oriented Education Program’ and ‘Durgapur Handicapped Happy Home’ at Durgapur, and ‘Cheshire Home’ at Burnpur.
