Rajasthan: NTPC-REL’s Chhattargarh Solar Project Commences Commercial Operations

The project aims to generate 370 million units of energy annually, powering around 60,000 households

In a significant development, NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd. (NTPC-REL) announced the commencement of commercial operations for its 70 MW first solar project in Chhattargarh, Rajasthan. This achievement drives the installed capacity of the NTPC Group to 73,958 MW, with a total renewable energy operational capacity of 3,448 MW. At present, NTPC-REL has 17 projects under execution, with a total capacity exceeding 6,000 MW.

The Chhattargarh Solar project, set to reach its full capacity of 150 MW by March 2024, was secured under SECI-Tranche:III. The initiative is expected to generate 370 million units of energy annually, sufficient for the power needs of approximately 60,000 households. while also saving 3 lakhs tons of CO2 emissions every year and conserving 1,000 MMTPA of water, adequate for over 5,000 households in a year. The CEO (NGEL), Mr. Mohit Bhargava, and other officials were present on this occasion.
