New Delhi: In a significant leadership development in the public sector, Rakesh Nandan Sahay, currently serving as Additional General Manager (HR) at NTPC Limited, has been recommended for the role of Director (Personnel) at Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL). The announcement follows a selection meeting held by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on September 16.
Chosen from a Competitive Pool of Candidates
Sahay emerged as the top contender among 10 candidates interviewed by the PESB panel. The applicants included:
- 4 candidates from RINL
- 2 from BSNL
- 1 each from NTPC, ONGC, and Engineers India Limited (EIL)
His extensive experience in human resources, coupled with his leadership capabilities and familiarity with public sector operations, played a key role in his selection.

New Role and Responsibilities
Once appointed, Sahay will join RINL’s Board of Directors and will report directly to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). In his new capacity, he will be responsible for:
- Overseeing personnel and HR strategies
- Leading industrial relations efforts
- Managing the administrative policies of the organisation
- Driving organizational development and employee engagement
This appointment comes at a pivotal time for RINL, as the company seeks to enhance its HR frameworks and navigate operational challenges in a competitive steel market.
