New Delhi: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited under the Ministry of Power, handed over the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) Davanagere Power Transmission Limited to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Power Grid). This SPV is part of an Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) project awarded under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route.
Project Background and Transfer Details
The transmission project, developed on a Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis, was awarded to Power Grid Corporation through the competitive bidding process managed by RECPDCL as the Bid Process Coordinator. The handover ceremony took place on September 24, 2025, with T.S.C. Bosh, CEO of RECPDCL, formally transferring the SPV to Arup Kumar Samanta, Senior DGM, Company Secretariat, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. The event was attended by senior officials from RECPDCL, Power Grid Corporation, and the Central Transmission Utility of India Limited.
Project Scope and Financial Details
The Davanagere transmission project involves significant augmentation of transformation capacity at the Davanagere Power Station, including:
- Installation of 1×1500 MVA 765/400 kV ICT (Inter-Connecting Transformer)
- Installation of 4×500 MVA 400/220 kV ICTs
- Addition of 220 kV line bays
The total estimated cost of the project is Rs. 366.26 Crore, with an implementation timeline of 24 months.
