SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, has successfully commenced commercial operations of 241.77 MW capacity under Phase-I of the 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project. This milestone, achieved today, marks a significant step in India’s renewable energy expansion.
The Bikaner Solar Power Project, located in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, is being developed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme – Phase II, Tranche III, initiated by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India. The project is scheduled for full commissioning by September 30, 2025. Upon completion, SGEL will supply solar power to Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand.
Implemented under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode, the project aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, boosting indigenous solar manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports.
The 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project is expected to contribute significantly to India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. Additionally, the project supports SJVN’s long-term vision of becoming a 25,000 MW company by 2030 and a 50,000 MW entity by 2040, reinforcing its commitment to a sustainable energy future.
