IAS officer Sonal Goel has applied for voluntary retirement from service. She sent her VRS application from Delhi to Chief Secretary JK Sinha through email yesterday. Ms. Goel is an IAS officer of 2008 batch and Tripura cadre. She is popular for her social media engagement and various activities in the social sphere. The reason for her VRS is not yet clear.
Ms. Goel is currently serving as the Resident Commissioner at Tripura Bhavan, New Delhi.
Ms. Goel, who rose to fame after securing all India rank- 13 in UPSC Civil Services Examination, has sent her application to seek voluntary retirement from service to the Chief Secretary of Govt. of Tripura.
Sonal Goel often made headlines for her social media posts as well as her social work initiatives. She was recently seen helping the families displaced due to flood in Delhi. For her exemplary service, she had also been chosen as one of the Top 25 women Transforming India, by Niti Aayog, United Nations and MyGov in September 2016.
Having dedicated years of her life to public service, Goel has made a name for herself through her relentless efforts to uplift the needy and advocate for gender equality.
She also received several awards and accolades for her work. She has received ‘National MGNREGA award’ from Ministry of Rural Development, GOI 2016 for effective implementation of MGNREGA through convergence; leading to sustainable livelihoods. As DC Jhajjar, Sonal worked tirelessly for annual improvement of the sex ratio at birth and was awarded by the Department of Women & Child Development, Govt. of Haryana.
Over a decade and a half of her career Sonal Goel, IAS remained committed to her core principles of serving the underprivileged and working towards a more inclusive society. Her vast experience, coupled with her unwavering determination, positioned her as a strong advocate for change and an inspiring figure for aspiring leaders.
