Thiruvananthapuram: On October 16, 2025, the Controller of Defence Accounts (CGDA), Chennai, organized the 214th SPARSH Outreach Programme in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar inaugurated the event, which saw the participation of over 1,100 defence veterans and family pensioners from Thiruvananthapuram and surrounding districts.
SPARSH Outreach: Empowering Defence Pensioners with Pension Redressal Services
During the programme, Governor Arlekar distributed cheques totaling ₹40 lakh to five defence pensioners and family members whose grievances were resolved through the SPARSH initiative. This gesture underscored the government’s commitment to addressing pension-related issues promptly and effectively.
SPARSH Outreach: Honouring Veer Naris for Their Supreme Sacrifice
The event also included a special ceremony to honour six Veer Naris—widows of soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Governor Arlekar referred to them as “Veer Mathas,” acknowledging their immense contribution and sacrifice for the nation.
Expansion of SPARSH Service Centres Across Kerala
Governor Arlekar commended the Defence Accounts Department for establishing dedicated SPARSH Service Centres in 12 out of 14 districts in Kerala. He urged the department to open two additional centres in Idukki and Malappuram to ensure comprehensive coverage and accessibility for all defence pensioners in the state.
Strengthening Support through Help Desks and Coordination
The CGDA Chennai has set up 30 help desks in collaboration with the CGDA headquarters, PCDA (Pensions) Prayagraj, eight Record Offices, four banks, and other agencies.

These help desks play a crucial role in assisting defence pensioners and family members in resolving SPARSH-related issues, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery.
SPARSH Outreach: Successful Disbursement of One Rank One Pension Arrears
In a significant achievement, the CGDA disbursed over ₹1,200 crore in One Rank One Pension (OROP) arrears to more than 20 lakh defence pensioners and family members within a span of just 15 days.
This swift action highlights the government’s dedication to fulfilling its promises and supporting the armed forces community.
