The Lucknow Golf Club, one of the city’s most esteemed recreational and sporting institutions, has announced its new 10-member managing committee. Former IPS officer Mr. Subhash Chandra was re-elected as the President of the club, while Mr. Rajneesh Sethi retained his position as Secretary. Both leaders were re-elected unopposed for their second consecutive terms after no other nominations were filed for the two top posts.
With around 2,200 members, the club witnessed active participation in the voting process, with 1,050 members casting their votes. The results were declared on Sunday, marking the beginning of another developmental phase for the iconic establishment.
Dynamic Leadership with a Vision for Growth
Mr. R.S. Nanda, a retired railway officer and accomplished cyclist, was re-elected as Captain after defeating Mr. Devender Singh, an engineer from the Public Works Department. Mr. Sudhakar Rastogi, former Passport Officer, took over as Joint Secretary, replacing Mr. Sanjeev Agarwal, after winning against Mr. Deepak Kumar, a serving railway officer. The six other elected members of the managing committee include Mr. Gurmeet Singh alias Honey, Mr. Dhruv Goyal, Mr. Ankur Agarwal, Mr. Tarangh Singhal, Mr. Ajay Agarwal, and Mr. Aamer M. Shaikh.
Mr. Chandra’s Vision: Green Development and Modern Facilities
Outlining his priorities for the term, Mr. Subhash Chandra emphasized the need to develop a dedicated practice area for club members—a long-standing demand. He stated that the club had recently acquired a five-acre plot, which will be developed into a state-of-the-art practice ground within the next three to four months.
In a significant eco-friendly move, the club plans to utilize recycled water from the irrigation department instead of extracting groundwater. Talks are underway with the irrigation department to source treated water from the sewerage treatment plant located near the Haider Canal. This initiative highlights the club’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure and environmental conservation.
Building Stronger Ties and Expanding Facilities
The new committee has also expressed its intent to strengthen partnerships with major sporting clubs across India. In an upcoming general body meeting, the committee will present a proposal to establish pre-fabricated luxury suites and rooms within the club premises. As permanent construction is not permitted in the club’s designated green zone, this modular approach will balance comfort with environmental responsibility.
