Lucknow, UP: The Yogi Adityanath government is set to present its final general budget of the term on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, ahead of next year’s assembly elections. The massive ₹9 lakh crore budget is expected to prioritize development in Purvanchal and Bundelkhand, with a significant allocation of nearly ₹1,900 crore for regional development funds.

Development Focus on Purvanchal and Bundelkhand

The government aims to accelerate economic growth in backward regions such as Purvanchal and Bundelkhand. Infrastructure, basic amenities, and industrial development will be the main focus.

Key projects likely to receive budget allocation include:

  • Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA) expansion over 56.662 acres, requiring land acquisition of over 23,000 acres.
  • Improved connectivity in Purvanchal, including linking Lucknow-Agra Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, Chitrakoot Link Expressway, and connections to Ganga, Jewar, and Farrukhabad.

Women-Centric Provisions

The 2026 budget is expected to include several initiatives for women:

  • Enhancement of pensions for widows and elderly women.
  • Increased honorarium for ASHA and Anganwadi workers.
  • Financial support for women in self-help groups, aligned with schemes like She-Mart.

These measures aim to empower women and promote economic participation at the grassroots level.

Support for Educators

Teachers, Shiksha Mitras, and Anudeshaks are expected to benefit from:

  • Increased salaries and arrears, following Supreme Court directives setting the Anudeshak pay at ₹17,000.
  • Insurance schemes for educators, cooks, and support staff in basic, secondary, and government-aided schools.

Approximately 25,000 Anudeshaks stand to benefit from arrears payments, highlighting the government’s commitment to education sector reforms.

Boosting Economy and Industry

The budget may include measures to accelerate Uttar Pradesh’s economic growth toward a $1 trillion economy:

  • ₹2.5 lakh crore could be allocated for infrastructure and basic amenities.
  • Incentives for industries, including semiconductors and other manufacturing sectors.
  • Investments in renewable energy, free electricity for farmers, and improvement in power infrastructure.

These steps are aimed at attracting private investment and boosting industrial development across the state.

Promotion of Religious Tourism

The government plans budget allocations for religious and cultural tourism corridors:

  • Expansion of facilities in Vrindavan, Mathura, and Vishwa.
  • Development of temples and associated tourism infrastructure to boost local economy.

Support for Social Welfare Schemes

Key social initiatives expected in the budget include:

  • Increased funding for Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme, supporting underprivileged families amid rising gold and silver prices.
  • Focus on fulfilling BJP’s election promises, including schemes pending from previous budgets.

The 2026 Uttar Pradesh budget is anticipated to balance regional development, women empowerment, education, industrial growth, and tourism, while also focusing on key social welfare programs ahead of elections.
