Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday distributed appointment letters to 2,425 Chief Sevikas and 13 pharmacists in a ceremony held at the Lok Bhavan Auditorium in Lucknow. This event, part of the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission’s recruitment drive, marks a significant step in the state’s ongoing efforts to enhance transparency, provide employment opportunities, and promote women empowerment.
During the ceremony, CM Yogi lauded the state’s progress in overcoming the challenges that once hindered its development. He noted that the state has moved away from a legacy of corruption and political nepotism that had plagued recruitment processes before 2017.
Uttar Pradesh’s Shift Towards Transparency and Equal Opportunity
CM Yogi emphasized that prior to his tenure, the recruitment process in Uttar Pradesh was marred by corruption and favoritism, which prevented deserving candidates from securing jobs. He stated, “From 1947 to 1960, Uttar Pradesh was a leading state in India, but from 1990 onward, the state saw a sharp decline due to violence, family politics, and corruption.”
However, under his leadership, the recruitment process has been streamlined, ensuring fairness and opportunity for all. He praised the new system for allowing young people to pursue their dreams without fear of bias or discrimination.
Reforms in Recruitment and Youth Employment
In his address, CM Yogi also highlighted how Uttar Pradesh’s current policies are creating new job opportunities for youth. He noted that many talented individuals had previously been denied access to opportunities due to unfair practices.
The Chief Minister urged the newly appointed workers to serve with dedication, emphasizing that their success is part of a broader transformation that is happening across the state.
Opposition Criticized for Lack of Agenda
The CM also took the opportunity to target opposition parties, claiming they lacked a constructive agenda and were focused only on spreading negativity. He responded to the opposition’s criticism regarding school mergers, explaining that relocating dilapidated schools and improving the student-teacher ratio were in line with the National Education Policy.
Additionally, CM Yogi spoke about the successful implementation of over 5,000 Bal Vatikas, which are focused on the nutrition and mental development of children.
Women Empowerment: A Key Focus
A major point in CM Yogi’s address was the empowerment of women. He mentioned the remarkable increase in the number of women recruited into the police force, with 12,045 women selected in the most recent 60,244 police recruitment drives. In comparison, between 1947 and 2017, only about 10,000 women served in the police force.
The CM also highlighted the success of various schemes aimed at empowering women, including the CM Kanya Sumangala Yojana, which has benefited over 26 lakh girls, and the Sampoorna Vivah Yojana, which has facilitated 4 lakh weddings in the state.
Health and Nutrition: Significant Improvements
Addressing health issues, CM Yogi pointed out the improvements in women’s and children’s health, with fewer cases of anemia, stunting, and underweight children, according to the National Family Health Survey. He urged the newly appointed Chief Sevikas to play a key role in implementing nutrition, health, and education programs effectively at Anganwadi centers.
Anganwadi Sector’s Progress
The CM also highlighted the progress made in the Anganwadi sector, mentioning that this year, 19,424 Anganwadi workers and 3,000 assistants were promoted. Additionally, 22,290 mini Anganwadi centers have been upgraded, directly benefiting women and children in rural areas.
The appointment letters ceremony underlined the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to transparency, job creation, and social welfare, while continuing to drive reforms that will shape the state’s future.
