Moradabad — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday inaugurated the newly constructed Atal Residential School in Moradabad, built at a cost of ₹79 crore. Designed to provide quality, free education to children of registered construction workers and orphans under the Bal Seva Yojana, the institution marks a major stride in the state’s mission for inclusive, equitable education.
In his address, CM Yogi not only dedicated the school to the legacy of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, but also used the occasion to launch a scathing attack on opposition parties, accusing them of turning education into a platform for cheating, casteism, and corruption during their regimes.
“Those who came to power through appeasement are today politically irrelevant,” said the Chief Minister, adding that BJP’s model of governance is based on ‘santushti’ (satisfaction), not ‘tushtikaran’ (appeasement).
“Our policies reach every citizen without discrimination.”

A Model School for New India
Spread across 13.5 acres, the Moradabad Atal Residential School boasts:
- Accommodation for 1,000 students (640 admitted in 2025-26)
- 28 smart classrooms, 11 modern laboratories, a digital library, and tutorial rooms
- Separate hostels for junior and senior boys and girls
- Mess facilities, sports infrastructure, and residential blocks for teachers and staff
- A 100 kW solar power backup system and energy-efficient campus design
CM Yogi described the school as a “temple of education, values, and discipline,” developed to shape students into self-reliant citizens. He emphasized that the government would also bear the cost of students’ higher education, including professional courses like IIT or medical, if pursued after Class 12.

Anti-Corruption and Pro-Education Agenda
CM Yogi highlighted the shift in policy regarding the BOC (Building and Other Construction Workers) Welfare Fund, which was previously “looted” under past governments. “That same fund is now transforming into schools and universities for workers’ children,” he said.
He noted that 18 Atal Residential Schools are already operational across UP, providing free, CBSE-based education to over 18,000 students, with plans to scale this model to 2,000 schools across the state.
“This is our tribute to Atal ji’s vision and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s ideology of Antyodaya—uplifting the last person in society,” he said.
Political Attack on Samajwadi Party
The Chief Minister reserved sharp criticism for the Samajwadi Party, accusing it of insulting Indian culture and education.
“During the Kalyaan Singh government, when students were taught ‘G for Ganesh,’ SP leaders objected and wanted it changed to ‘G for Gadha (donkey)’,” Yogi claimed.
He alleged that under SP rule, the education system was a victim of nepotism, lawlessness, and exam fraud. “They treated cheating as their birthright and ruined the youth,” he said.
Festive Announcements and Outreach
The CM extended greetings for Raksha Bandhan, Krishna Janmashtami, and Independence Day, announcing free travel for women in UP Roadways buses from August 8 to 10.
He also interacted warmly with students during the school tour—distributing chocolates, signing autographs, and taking selfies with schoolgirls and boys.

CM Yogi reiterated that UP is no longer a state known for chaos and crime, but one that takes pride in its heritage, development, and education reforms.
