The two month long voting awareness campaign in Pilbhit has been fruitful. Along with Lakhimpurkhiri, Pilbhit became the district with highest turnout of votes in fourth phase of ongoing assembly elections in UP.
Under the leadership of District Collector Mr. Pulkit Khare, the administration planned a comprehensive campaign for raising awareness amongst the voter.While talking to Indian Masterminds, Mr. Khare told that this year the voting was 69.29% while in 2017 assembly elections it was 66.85%
The administration made tiger its mascot for the campaign as Pilibhit is also the home for the youngest tiger reserve in the country. Besides this several webinar and a kite festival with right to vote theme was also organised. The DM himself along with other senior officer was seen going from door to door with folded hands requesting people to come and vote. The officer went around raising awareness among the voters about the necessity to go out and vote on election day. The administration also distributed postcards made by school children who also appealed to the elders for going out and vote.
