Lucknow: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is taking decisive steps to enhance youth skill development, self-reliance, and local employment. The initiatives aim to ensure that every young person in the state finds meaningful employment or self-employment, contributing to the broader vision of Viksit Uttar Pradesh, Viksit Bharat, and supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Skill India and Vocal for Local missions.
Review Meeting Highlights Skill Mission Progress
State Minister (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Kapil Dev Agarwal, chaired a review meeting at the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission headquarters in Aliganj, Lucknow. The meeting evaluated the progress of ongoing skill development programs that aim to advance the state’s one trillion-dollar economy goal.
Minister Agarwal noted that ITI graduates are increasingly securing placements with leading national companies, boosting the youth’s enthusiasm for skill-based education. He directed that these success stories be widely publicized to encourage greater enrollment in ITIs, helping students pursue courses aligned with employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Industry Partnerships and Practical Training Programs
Minister Agarwal emphasized that close coordination with industry is crucial for enhancing student employability. The government has instructed the preparation of an industry visit calendar and structured timetables for ITI students to gain practical exposure.
Significant initiatives include:
- Strengthening linkages between industries, ITI institutes, and the Skill Development Mission
- Updating the Skill Mitra portal with placement data
- Ensuring training programs remain demand-driven and industry-relevant
Monthly placement drives will be conducted in all nodal ITIs on the 21st of every month, with Deloitte India partnering to ensure active industry participation.
Successful Placements and Industrial Exposure
So far, ITI students have secured placements with prominent companies such as Subros Ltd., Creature Industries, Dixon Technologies, Havells, PepsiCo, and Sona BLW. Students have also benefited from industrial visits to facilities including Gyan Dairy, Alpha Engineers (TATA Motors Ancillary), Mohannah Enterprises, Kashi Industries, and Avionics Sparrow.
Expanding Sector Skill Councils and Centers of Excellence
The Yogi government is expanding partnerships with organizations such as the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC), Furniture and Fittings Sector Skill Council (FFSC), and Gyan Dairy. Work is also progressing on establishing Centers of Excellence (CoEs) for the furniture sector in Noida, Gorakhpur, and Saharanpur to further enhance skill development and industry-readiness.
The review meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Dr. Hari Om, Mission Director Pulkit Khare, Additional Director Priya Singh, departmental officials, and representatives from Deloitte India.

Through these initiatives, the Yogi government aims to:
