Uttar Pradesh, the most populated state is also the one with the biggest number of IAS Officers serving currently. At present, 548 IAS Officers are part of the Uttar Pradesh government. Out of the total 42 has been appointed by the central government and rest are appointed by the state government itself.
Whereas, 150 have been promoted from state services to IAS. In this sense also, the state has the maximum number of promoted officer. After UP, Madhya Pradesh has the maximum number of IAS officer with 370 currently serving and with 338 IAS Officers, Maharashtra is on the third position.
