11 Core Areas of Reform Identified

The initiative will address 11 priority areas, with senior IPS officers at both the headquarters and field level assigned to draft specialised action plans for each. As per the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, every police service in the state will be upgraded to global standards, with the goal of making UP Police the best in the country.

Focus Areas Include:

  • Zero-tolerance policy against crime and criminals
  • Women’s safety and empowerment
  • Timely grievance redressal
  • Cybercrime control and prevention
  • Effective law enforcement
  • Police welfare measures
  • Integration of AI and new technologies
  • Enhanced training for personnel
  • Talent utilisation and leadership
  • Streamlined police services
  • Traffic management reforms

Presentations to Begin Monday

Field officers and those from the police headquarters have been assigned areas of responsibility according to their expertise. Beginning Monday, officers will start presenting their proposals to the DGP. Proposals will be judged based on simplicity, practicality, and effectiveness, with special attention to ensuring minimal operational burden on ground-level police staff.

Constables to ADGs Involved in Reforms

For the first time, personnel from the rank of constable up to Additional Director General (ADG) are being involved in the process of shaping reform strategies. DGP Krishna has instructed all participants to build their plans around nine key principles, including:

  1. Clear, time-bound goals
  2. Integration of AI and emerging tech
  3. Community and stakeholder engagement
  4. Practical, field-friendly implementation
  5. Targeted feedback from women, youth, and business groups

Phased Implementation Under DGP Headquarters Supervision

The reforms will be rolled out in phases under the direct supervision of the DGP Headquarters, with the ultimate aim of transforming UP Police into a modern, efficient, and citizen-centric force.
