Dehradun: In response to the devastating floods that have struck Uttarkashi, the Uttarakhand government has launched a large-scale relief and rescue operation by deploying senior IAS and IPS officers, along with police personnel and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) units. This move follows Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s direct instructions to expedite aid and restore normalcy in the affected regions.
Three IAS and Three IPS Officers Rushed to Disaster Zone
As per the Personnel Department’s directive, three IAS officers – Abhishek Ruhela, Meharban Singh Bisht, and Gaurav Kumar – have been immediately posted in the flood-affected areas to coordinate relief operations. They are tasked with ensuring effective distribution of aid, supervision of rescue activities, and communication with state headquarters.
Simultaneously, the Home Department has deployed three senior IPS officers – Pradeep Rai, Amit Srivastava Pratham, and Surjeet Singh Panwar – to manage law and order, assist in evacuation, and support logistical efforts. These officers will function under the guidance of the Divisional Commissioner and Inspector General (IG) of Garhwal.
Police Force Mobilized from Four Districts
Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth announced a comprehensive police deployment to the disaster zone:
160 personnel, including 6 inspectors, 54 sub-inspectors, and 100 constables/head constables, have been dispatched from Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, and Tehri.
The C-team of IRB II, led by Commandant Shweta Chaubey, and the E-team of the 40th Battalion PAC are now actively stationed in the flood-affected area.
These deployments aim to maintain order, aid in search and rescue missions, and provide security during aid distribution.
10 DSPs Also Assigned for Ground Coordination
To strengthen the leadership at the field level, ten Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) have been deployed. These include:

- DSP Manoj Kumar Aswal
- DSP Anuj
- DSP Tushar Vohra
- DSP Swapnil Muyal
- DSP Neeraj Semwal
- DSP Akhilesh Kumar

- DSP Sushil Rawat
These officers are coordinating closely with rescue teams, local administration, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to ensure a unified and timely disaster response.
Central Monitoring & Coordination Ongoing
DGP Seth confirmed that state headquarters is closely monitoring the entire operation. A dedicated coordination channel with the Disaster Operations Center has been activated to facilitate real-time updates, support, and escalation of resources as needed.
