New Delhi: In a historic and impassioned 103-minute speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a sweeping vision for a self-reliant and developed India by 2047. Marking his longest address to date, the Prime Minister presented a powerful roadmap that emphasized India’s rise as a globally respected, economically resilient, and technologically advanced nation.

India Will Not Compromise: Operation Sindoor and Indus Waters Treaty

PM Modi began with a bold assertion of India’s strategic autonomy. Referring to Operation Sindoor, launched after the Pahalgam terror attack, he said the operation showcased India’s ability to respond decisively using 100% Made-in-India weapons, dismantling cross-border terror infrastructure.

He declared, “India will no longer tolerate nuclear blackmail or accept threats on foreign terms.”

On the Indus Waters Treaty, he made a resolute statement, “Blood and water will not flow together. The treaty was unjust – our farmers suffered while enemy lands flourished.”

Driving Self-Reliance: Atmanirbhar Bharat Beyond Economics

PM Modi reinforced the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat, asserting that self-reliance must go beyond trade balances and into technological and industrial sovereignty.

“Dependence becomes a dangerous habit. Real independence is about our capacity to stand on our own,” he said.

Key announcements include

  • India’s first Made-in-India semiconductor chip to launch by 2025
  • Opening of the nuclear energy sector to private players
  • Expansion of indigenous innovation in jet engines, fertilisers, social media platforms and more

He urged the youth to lead in building technologies of the future, saying, “We must be producers, not just consumers.”

Strategic Resources: Critical Minerals and Deepwater Missions

Highlighting India’s bid for resource security, the Prime Minister unveiled

  • National Critical Minerals Mission – exploring 1,200 sites for vital minerals
  • National Deepwater Exploration Mission – to unlock offshore energy resources, reducing reliance on fuel imports

“Controlling critical resources strengthens our strategic autonomy,” PM Modi said.

Healthcare Leadership: India as the Pharmacy of the World

Emphasizing India’s healthcare potential, PM Modi called for total self-reliance in medicines and vaccine innovation, building on the success of CoWIN and indigenous COVID-19 vaccines.

He urged researchers and entrepreneurs to:

  • Secure patents for new drugs
  • Build domestic R&D ecosystems
  • Ensure India remains a global health leader

Mission Sudarshan Chakra: Strengthening Defence Autonomy

PM Modi launched Mission Sudarshan Chakra, a new initiative to develop advanced indigenous defence systems to counter emerging threats.

“This is about creating a powerful, rapid-response weapon system to defend our nation,” he said.

He also pledged nationwide public security coverage by 2035, underscoring India’s long-term defence and civilian safety vision.

Next-Generation Economic Reforms: Simplification and Efficiency

PM Modi announced the formation of a Task Force for Next-Generation Economic Reforms.

  • Over 40,000 compliances and 1,500 outdated laws have already been scrapped
  • Next-generation GST reforms will be introduced by Diwali, easing the burden on MSMEs, local vendors, and consumers

Employment Push: PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana Launched

To unlock India’s demographic dividend, PM Modi launched the PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, a ₹1 lakh crore employment scheme.

  • Newly employed youth to receive ₹15,000 support
  • The scheme aims to benefit 3 crore young Indians

“This is the bridge from Swatantra Bharat to Samriddha Bharat,” Modi declared.

Energy Sovereignty and Nuclear Power Expansion

Highlighting India’s clean energy progress, the PM said-

  • India has already achieved its 50% clean energy target, five years ahead of schedule
  • Plans are underway to increase nuclear power capacity 10-fold by 2047
  • 10 new nuclear reactors are being developed

“Energy self-reliance is key to national prosperity,” he added.

The PM highlighted India’s growing presence in the space sector:

  • Over 300 startups are driving innovation
  • Preparations for India’s own space station are underway
  • Indigenous success in missions like Gaganyaan affirms India’s space leadership

Farmers First: Strengthening India’s Agricultural Backbone

Reaffirming his commitment to farmers, PM Modi launched the PM Dhanya Dhanya Krishi Yojana for 100 backward farming districts.

He proudly stated:

  • India is No.1 in milk, jute, and pulses
  • Agricultural exports have crossed ₹4 lakh crore

“I will not allow any policy to harm our farmers. I stand as their shield,” he said.

Protecting Demographic Integrity: High-Powered Demography Mission

To counter challenges from illegal infiltration and safeguard national unity, PM Modi announced the High-Powered Demography Mission.

The mission aims to:

  • Protect border regions
  • Address social and economic impacts of infiltration
  • Ensure national integrity and security

Vision for 2047: A Call to Every Citizen

Closing his address, PM Modi called on every Indian to contribute toward building a Viksit Bharat-
