New Delhi: In a historic and impassioned 103-minute speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a sweeping vision for a self-reliant and developed India by 2047. Marking his longest address to date, the Prime Minister presented a powerful roadmap that emphasized India’s rise as a globally respected, economically resilient, and technologically advanced nation.
India Will Not Compromise: Operation Sindoor and Indus Waters Treaty
PM Modi began with a bold assertion of India’s strategic autonomy. Referring to Operation Sindoor, launched after the Pahalgam terror attack, he said the operation showcased India’s ability to respond decisively using 100% Made-in-India weapons, dismantling cross-border terror infrastructure.
He declared, “India will no longer tolerate nuclear blackmail or accept threats on foreign terms.”
On the Indus Waters Treaty, he made a resolute statement, “Blood and water will not flow together. The treaty was unjust – our farmers suffered while enemy lands flourished.”
Driving Self-Reliance: Atmanirbhar Bharat Beyond Economics
PM Modi reinforced the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat, asserting that self-reliance must go beyond trade balances and into technological and industrial sovereignty.
“Dependence becomes a dangerous habit. Real independence is about our capacity to stand on our own,” he said.

Strategic Resources: Critical Minerals and Deepwater Missions
Highlighting India’s bid for resource security, the Prime Minister unveiled–
- National Critical Minerals Mission – exploring 1,200 sites for vital minerals
- National Deepwater Exploration Mission – to unlock offshore energy resources, reducing reliance on fuel imports
“Controlling critical resources strengthens our strategic autonomy,” PM Modi said.
Healthcare Leadership: India as the Pharmacy of the World
Emphasizing India’s healthcare potential, PM Modi called for total self-reliance in medicines and vaccine innovation, building on the success of CoWIN and indigenous COVID-19 vaccines.
He urged researchers and entrepreneurs to:
- Secure patents for new drugs
- Build domestic R&D ecosystems

Mission Sudarshan Chakra: Strengthening Defence Autonomy
PM Modi launched Mission Sudarshan Chakra, a new initiative to develop advanced indigenous defence systems to counter emerging threats.
“This is about creating a powerful, rapid-response weapon system to defend our nation,” he said.
He also pledged nationwide public security coverage by 2035, underscoring India’s long-term defence and civilian safety vision.
Next-Generation Economic Reforms: Simplification and Efficiency
PM Modi announced the formation of a Task Force for Next-Generation Economic Reforms.
- Over 40,000 compliances and 1,500 outdated laws have already been scrapped
- Next-generation GST reforms will be introduced by Diwali, easing the burden on MSMEs, local vendors, and consumers
Employment Push: PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana Launched
To unlock India’s demographic dividend, PM Modi launched the PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, a ₹1 lakh crore employment scheme.

Reaffirming his commitment to farmers, PM Modi launched the PM Dhanya Dhanya Krishi Yojana for 100 backward farming districts.
